If you are driven by the challenge of constant improvement and a pursuit of perfection, we are looking for an experienced Diagnostic Engineer to join our Aftersales Service Operations team in Woking.

Purpose of the role:

As Diagnostic Engineer, you will play a key role in developing the McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS). You will primarily support with introducing new vehicle and Model Year content updates into the MDS. In addition to the content work, the role will provide the opportunity to develop the runtime and user interface based on the feedback from our Retailers and internal stakeholders.

You will be pivotal in developing new diagnostic content, improving MDS performance and the development of new diagnostic procedures.

Principal accountabilities:
  • Creation and development of diagnostic content under the direction of the Senior Diagnostic Engineer
  • Development of new diagnostic strategies in line with new vehicle features and requirements
  • Design, build and maintain diagnostic test rigs and simulation hardware
  • Liaise with our service partner staff, other McLaren Automotive departments, and suppliers, as required
  • Responsibilities will also rely with Quality, Cost, Safety, Maintenance, Office & Workshop and Reporting
  • Support Retailer network operations with site visits and remote software support

Knowledge, skills & experience:
  • Experience in PC based vehicle diagnostic systems or similar applications essential
  • Experience in software programming in any application an advantage
  • Functional knowledge of Control Area Network (CAN)
  • Diagnostics over IP or Ethernet networking experience an advantage
  • Understanding of Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) an advantage
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Conversant with Softing (Monaco, Venice), Vector applications or similar
  • Experience with Grade-X authoring software desirable
