The Duke of Edinburgh Activity Leader will work within the Learning and Activity Centre (LAC) supporting students and running the DoE programme which includes two full weekend camping expeditions (2 day/one night) off site in rural locations outside of London - dates to be set around March-May 2020.

The right candidate will have held a similar position elsewhere with a strong understanding of risk in offsite activities and proven ability to enthuse and motivate others. This nature of this role involves lots of trips around the London area so a good working knowledge of London key tourist attractions as well as the Duke of Edinburgh scheme is required.

Hours for this role are as follows:

19.5 hours per week with a 30 minute lunch:
  • Wednesday 9.00 - 16.00
  • Thursday 9.00 - 16.00
  • Friday 9.00 - 16.00

  • Organise and run the Duke of Edinburgh programme which includes facilitating training and organising and attending the two expeditions in Spring time.
  • Be the focal point for communication and keep everyone involved in the programme informed
  • Keep up to date with DofE developments
  • Maintain the high standards of quality expected by the DofE and the college
  • Ensure students are up to date and progressing at the expected rate towards the award
  • Work from the Learning & Activity Centre whilst supervising students in the area
  • Maintaining vibrant, current noticeboards in the LAC area
  • Support the work of the Learning & Activity Centre including events, activities, workshops and general team administration
  • Ensuring welfare and safeguarding best practice is followed at all times.
  • Accompanying the PE group in their once weekly offsite class
  • Supporting the social media page
  • Supporting other activities and enrichment

  • Sports based qualification (Desirable)
  • Events planning (Desirable)
  • Minimum grade C or above in English GCSE (Essential)
  • First Aid (Desirable - or willingness to take the qualification)
  • Creative media, design, art or photography qualification (Desirable)
