UKAEA is the home to JET (the Joint European Torus) and MAST-U (Mega Amp Spherical Tokamak - Upgrade), with plans to operate both experiments in this year.

As an Electrical Engineer you will responsible for the maintenance, repair and provision of upgrades/ refurbishments to major parts of the pulsed power supplies plant on the JET or MAST-U. During JET and MAST-U operations you will be a rostered Power Supplies Operations Engineer (PSOE), ensuring the safe and effective operation of the Pulsed Power Supplies plant.

In your role you will be accountable for:
* Ensuring that plant information is maintained, kept up to date and overseeing the preparation of documentation (e.g. drawings and work procedures).
* fault finding and plant repair activities in a safe and effective manner while ensuring relevant work control procedures are followed.
* Refurbishment and enhancements to this power supplies plant
* Support staff to ensure they can fulfil their duties.
* Ensure the plant is operated safely and maintained in accordance with statutory and local requirements.
* stock levels of spare parts and consumables ensuring the components are available at all times.
* Reduction of the number of plant faults, safety incidents, identifying improvements and promoting good behavioural safety.
* The operation of the JET or MAST-U power supplies and HV distribution from the Tokamak control rooms.
* Liaising with other control room staff and the power supplies shift team as required.
* Providing advice on fault finding, enhancements and solving power supplies plant related problems.
* Analysing power systems and power conversion systems, and where required translating theoretical results into practical engineering of large-scale facilities.

You'll need:
* A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline or other equivalent and relevant qualifications
* Significant experience in component, sub-system and system level fault finding.
* Experience of preparing safety documentation including risk assessments, method statements and using a formal permit system for work on complex, hazardous electrical plant.
* The ability to apply technical expertise and manage complex and/or extensive tasks involving others.
