Finance Assistant, Payments

17.5 hours per week
Permanent
£19,694 - £20,734 (including Distant Islands Allowance)

One part time vacancy exists for the post of Finance Assistant (Payments) within the Chief Executive's - Finance - Payments Service. You will work within a small office based team responsible for dealing with all the payments from the purchase ledger and assisting with the administration and collection of debt. The main responsibilities include:

assisting in the processing of payments on behalf of the Islands Council
responding to customer enquiries face-to-face, by telephone, email or correspondence.

You will be required to work as an effective team member and deal with financial queries both from individuals and businesses. You will need to be able to work under pressure, produce work that is accurate and to a high standard and to maintain strict confidentiality. You will also have to follow and comply with legislative requirements, policies and working practices.

We are looking for someone who is educated to SVQ level 2 or equivalent level in a relevant subject or where the essential qualification is not held, a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in a finance or administrative role.

You should have good numerical, communication and organisational skills and have experience of working with computerised and office systems.
