Our Clients are specialist designers and manufacturers of energy saving motor control equipment and are based near Plymouth. The role has the responsibility for all aspects of the Finance & HR function. The primary focus of this position is to implement, maintain and police systems that ensure good financial control and must be capable of working effectively with all other departments within the business to achieve this. The role requires a very efficient, well organised and enthusiastic individual with excellent attention to detail, to cover the varied tasks. As the business grows, the role will quickly progress into a supervisory / management role. You will be reporting to the Finance & Operations Director (F&OD).

Main duties and responsibilities

• Processing of all accounting entries in order to prepare the monthly Management Accounts with variance analyses and commentaries

• Quarterly financials for reporting to the shareholders

• Management of all accounting aspects - Purchase invoices, Fixed asset register, VAT etc

• Assist the F&OD with the preparation of budgets, cashflow forecasts and business insurances

• Maintaining the bank accounts and assisting the F&OD with the Treasury function and currency exchanges.

• Completion & filing within specified timescales of all statutory requirements such as HMRC, Taxes, Pensions, PAYE/NI, VAT, Companies House, R&D Tax credits, ESCL & Intrastats

• Co-ordinating stock checks to maintain the integrity of the Company's stock

• Co-ordinate the collection from debtors and payment of creditors

• Completing the monthly Payroll - making sure the system is maintained and staff are paid correctly & on time

• Ensure that personnel records, attendance, holidays etc are accurately recorded

• Co-ordinate the Companies HR activities and maintain records in connection with employment contracts, recruitment, disciplinary action etc

• Ensure that the Company is informed of changes to finance legislation and takes advantage of grants, tax credits (R&D) and other opportunities

• Work to improve processes and procedures within the Finance & HR function to cater for upscaling as the Company grows

• Work closely with the Company's bankers, auditors and HR advisors

Candidate Profile

·Professional accountancy part qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)

• Have a desire to complete their accounting qualification or have suitable relevant accounting experience

·One to two years' experience in a similar role

·Proficiency in Excel and other MS products

·Common sense, maturity, efficiency and self-organisation

·Accuracy and attention to detail
