A unique opportunity for an experienced Commodity Manager to join a Global Leader in the Oil & Energy Industry.

This is a key appointment which will contribute to the overall commercial, economic and technical success of the Global Business by driving the alignment of the Supply Chain activities between Sourcing, Procurement & Product Group.

Main Duties & responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate and align personnel for all Product Group commodity requirements.
  • Oversee & guide the global spend, supply base and Product Group/Supply Chain to achieve objectives.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of product Group needs, Procurement & Sourcing to provide products and services to meet Product Group expectations.
  • Full responsibilities are available on application, this is position that will seek to add value to the business with a target of improvement of the total cost, OTD and quality of the delivered goods and services that will have a direct impact on business results
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish sourcing strategy for commodity families, in line with Supply Chain & Product Group Strategies and create partnerships with suppliers representing quality products
  • Negotiate with the group, business unit, or product group in order to get the best total cost solution in line with the targets of the organization
  • Develop sourcing strategies (3 to 5 year vision) related to the commodities/Product Group responsible for and ensuring their implementation
  • In co-ordination with Sourcing find, select and approve preferred suppliers in accordance with pre-determined criteria
  • Manage the supplier's panel (in coordination with Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Relationship Management, Quality, Expediting and Product Group)
  • Identify global and alternative strategic procurement sources in order to reduce supply costs in co-ordination with Sourcing
  • Identify new materials, technology, manufacturing techniques etc. to drive down cost and lead-time
  • Ensure compliance with negotiated agreements
  • Build cost models for the global commodities and lead cost reduction projects.
  • Promote standardization among businesses/units.
  • Develop existing suppliers and promote VA/VE programs.
  • Ensure smooth relations with suppliers & businesses/units during implementation phase of contracts.
  • Ensure links with Engineering and Project Management.
  • Develop and own business continuity plans covering supplier's short- or long-term service disruption in co-ordination with Supplier Relationship Management.




Skills & Experience Required
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing (national and international)
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills
  • Managerial/Leadership experience
  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects
  • Experience with ERP/MRP
  • Able to travel internationally without restrictions up to 50% of the time
  • Experience in leading Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Ability to communicate to different audiences and cultures




What Will Put You Ahead?
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with BAAN
  • Multilingual
  • 7+ years' experience in commercial negotiation
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing (national and international)

The successful candidate will need to be available to travel internationally without restrictions (approximately 50% of the time)

HQ is based in Poole but the incumbent can be based anywhere in the UK.
