We have an exciting new opportunity available for a leading food manufacturer. Here at Futures, we are looking for an Engineering Leader (electrically biased) to be hands on whilst being responsible for attending meetings and managing downtime percentages.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager you will take responsibility for, not only the hands on maintenance tasks, but attending monthly site improvement meetings and collecting/producing KPIs of how to reduce waste and improving plant efficiency, thus reducing waste time by collectively working, problem solving and improving together.

Key responsibilities;

You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to set actions and resolve tasks set in terms of KPI's and downtime percentages.
You will have to ensure the PPM schedules are maintained in accordance with the current requirements
Continuous Improvement - identify new methods and procedures
Ensure accurate & timely records are entered / recorded of all work carried out, root causes of failures and of spares / consumables used
To complete planned maintenance, fault finding and breakdown repairs, installation and modification to plant and services.
Maintain and repair plant and equipment to high Engineering, Quality, Safety and Hygiene standards
Ensure all Engineering work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice, Health and Safety Legislation and current Company Standards
It is desirable for you to have knowledge of HACCP and COSHH.
Learn and understand the correct operation of each piece of equipment so as to know what effect there is on parameter changes and what can be achieved by the equipment
Fault diagnose and complete breakdown repairs of process equipment, bakery manufacturing plant, packaging equipment and site services
Manage your workload and time plan seeking out improvements and running repairs
Undertake training and up-skilling programmes as directed by business needs and to keep abreast of technological advancements and maintain skill level
You will need to facilitate a speedy response to all plant stoppages and to help plan / implement modifications to new and existing equipment.
Ensure an in depth-handover is provided to oncoming shift, to include Engineering, manufacturing & warehouse issues
Be available to cover for holidays and sickness with appropriate notice
Undertake any other duties which reasonably correspond to the general character of the role

Successful Engineer Supervisors will have;

Previous experience of working within the food manufacturing environment
Time served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline, holding an Electrical Engineering HND / HNC / BTech / ONC / C&G Level 3 qualifications or higher
Degree / HND or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
17th Edition City & Guilds (Desirable)
Strong electrical experience - must have the ability to read electrical drawings and have the skills to fault find under pressure also PLC experience is required to be able to go online with the equipment and diagnosis control faults etc.
Regarding the mechanical aspects, the business expects the engineer to be able to replace bearing and strip down motors on conveying systems and do the most common mechanical tasks.
