Our client is now seeking a thorough and enthusiastic Risk Manager to assist with several aspects of the company.

Role & Responsibilities of the Risk Manager:
  • Work with senior management to ensure that all major risks are identified and analysed.
  • Work with management to design and implement management information (MI) to monitor risks.
  • Continuously developing, enhancing and embedding the risk framework for managing risks across the institution, ensuring that processes are fit for purpose.
  • Maintain and evolve the approach to risk management including the evolution a formerly documented Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain and evolve a Risk Control Self-Assessment and oversee the group wide risk management software to facilitate the recording of risks by first line of defence.
  • Build and manage key stakeholder relationship establishing a good working rapport and effective buy in of risk management.
  • Embedding a positive culture of confident and informed risk-taking through training, communication and promotion of the agreed risk framework.
  • Prepare monthly Operational Risk and Control reports and where necessary attend the Executive or Board meetings to present on key risk and trends.
  • Help develop, prepare and co-ordinate the annual attestation of risks and controls across the group from risk owners with a summary provided to ARC as required.
  • Take an active role in the preparation of the group's annual ICAAP.
  • Responsibility for the firm's policies and procedures for countering the risk that the firm might be used to further financial crime.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the governing body is informed of its legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Responsibility for an AFM's value for money assessments, independent director representation and acting in investors' best interests.

About You
  • Experience within a financial Services setting
  • The Risk Manager will have held a similar position previously and have knowledge and experience of risk management.
  • Able to work effectively both in a team and independently with a pragmatic attitude.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills for assessing incidents and reporting on root causes so that improvements can be introduced to prevent recurrence.
  • High attention to detail, excellent communication skills and knowledge of risk management techniques.
  • Knowledge of the UK regulatory regime.
  • Able to support business managers on key risk indicators.
  • Able to identify strategic risk and develop frameworks.
  • Ability to deliver internal risk training to key stakeholders.
  • Excel skills.
  • ISO 31000 & IRM qualification desirable.
