Data Engineer required to join an organisation in Stirling who are creating a cutting-edge product. You will become a member of the R&D department and will be responsible for providing greater insight and understanding on the vast amounts of data that are created with this product. There is a current team of three in place and they are looking to increase this to five over the next few months. This position has been created in order to help with the transition to AWS. They have a data warehouse developer who is currently developing the back-end but this role will be more forward thinking with an emphasis on newer tech.

The role:

In this role, you will need to be comfortable with not just the ETL work, but also coding and data. You will ideally be able to code in APIs and know how to develop in .NET as well as cloud systems (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). The company are also in the process of building a new Datawarehouse and you will need to work closely with the team in Scotland and the Infrastructure team down south. The key aim of this position is to support the design and delivery of data infrastructure and applications, in order to develop and maintain a wide range of projects using traditional data warehouse techniques and more modern cloud platforms.

Key Role Responsibilities:

** Undertaking data activities including but not limited to data acquisition, analysis, modelling etc

** Understanding of data integration frameworks such as ETL

** Using Apache Kafka and ElasticSearch for streaming data, event sourcing and master data management

** Supporting and maintaining data platforms migration into AWS (Azure/Google Cloud experience also good)

** Develop software solutions using .NET (C#, VB.NET)

Key Skills:

** Data Warehouse methodologies (Kimball) and a strong ETL development background

** Cloud experience in AWS/Azure/Google Cloud

** Experience as a .NET/Java Developer or Application Developer

** SQL Server database knowledge

** Data science tools such as: R, Python, MATLAB (beneficial)

** Data Visualisation tools: Power BI, D3.js, ggplot etc. (beneficial)
