We are seeking an enthusiastic recent college graduate or junior engineer to work alongside an established team of engineers based a few miles south of Cambridge.

You will be working on new product development and will be involved in the complete design life cycle from concept through to design, validation and final release into full production of sensor products with varying levels of complexity.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of several different manufacturing processes and be able to translate requirements into mechanical design data suitable for manufacture.

• Interpretation of customer requirements and translation into product design, mechanical manufacture drawings and data
• Carrying out tolerance analysis and other calculations to validate design suitability
• Evaluating prototype product for form fit and function
• Liaising with the manufacturing team on quality related issues regarding part manufacture
• Working as part of the engineering team, requiring frequent communication and daily collaboration

• HNC qualified or equivalent in mechanical engineering or recent apprenticeship experience
• Experience producing manufacturing 2D drawings containing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance, finish and material specifications to BS8888:2017 (1 year +)
• SolidWorks modelling experience (1 year +)
• Grasp of materials selection for a range of mechanical products
• Experience of product development and transfer of new products into manufacturing
• Ability to multitask, time manage and work independently
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Sense of urgency with personal commitment to the success of the business
• Excellent PC skills in MS Office including Outlook, Excel and Word

Other useful skills include:
• Practical manual turning and milling prototyping experience
• Knowledge of a wide variety of component manufacturing processes and techniques
• Prototype assembly, evaluation, characterisation and testing experience
• Experience of operating and using FDM 3D printers
• Knowledge of linear and rotary contactless position sensing techniques
• Basic electronics knowledge of components and ability to follow simple circuits
• Ability to solder through hole and surface mount components
• Ability to write Visual Basic based macros/scripts
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills
