COMPANY OUTLINE

Westray Recruitment Consultants is looking to recruit an experienced CAD Engineer to work within a light fabrications company based in Tyneside. This is a permanent role. The successful candidate will be able to take a cradle to the grave approach to CAD Engineering including interpreting customer requirements, profiling/modelling drawings, producing assembly/fabrication drawings, BOM`s and advising with regards the assembly/fabrication stage. The candidate will preferably hold a detailed knowledge of 3D Design, SolidWorks and Radan.

THE ROLE

- Provide product design from concept through to production release.
- Provide details drawing for the production of the project.
- Design new products and liaise with sales team to create customer specific projects.
- Alter existing products to suit client`s needs and ensure all features are client specific
- Requisition job specific materials for purchasing department.
- Contain an excellent eye for detail and ensure the prompt realisation of client specifications.
- Work and liaise with other engineers within the business.
- Liaise directly with customers and suppliers when required.
- Liaise with Management Team to determine customer specific requirements (from both drawings and technical information).
- Liaise with other departments on manufacturing processes, techniques and issues.
- Liaise with Production Manager to provide feedback for production scheduling.

THE EXPERIENCE

- Must have an understanding of the sheet metal industry and be from a metal fabrication background
- Ability to work with CAD software including Solidworks and Radan.
- Ability to create complex assemblies and parts for the projects
- Identify and promote one best way within the engineering department.
- Use of standard directories for parts, assemblies and ancillary parts.
- Use of standard drawing templates.
- Ensure ease of manufacture is always a priority when designing.
- Investigate new ideas for engineering techniques.
- Record and document internal nonconformities and customer complaints.
- Provide technical support for the manufacturing process.

HOURS OF WORK AND CONTRACT

- The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4pm and 7:30am - 1:30pm Friday
- This position is a permanent job role.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

- This position pays a highly competitive salary as expected within the sector. The salary is negotiable with experience for the right candidate. The remuneration will be between £25K-£30K per annum depending on experience
- With workload depending, there exists an additional 4 hours Saturday overtime
