316 Engineering are renowned for producing innovative quality fabrications for industries such as Food, Pharmaceutical, Water Treatment, Process Engineering, Dairy and Architectural. We produce complex fabrications and our projects include: Chutes, Hoppers, Conveyor bodies, Platforms & gantries, Access ladders, Process tanks, Sheet metal work and Pipework.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to head up and oversee our modern fabrication facility in Peterborough.

The ideal candidate will have extensive Fabrication & Welding experience. The ability to direct personnel towards maximum performance is an important part of this job role. The goal is to ensure an efficient and productive manufacturing process that meets our customers' requirements.

Areas of Responsibility

* Management of fabrication projects from initial client enquiry, preparation of quotations, order/project winning, processing of production documents and issuing to production teams.

* Oversee the daily running of production, ensuring the smooth & efficient servicing of clients' jobs and a steady flow of work through the factory.

* Support and manage the team to ensure customers deadlines are achieved, quality of service is maintained, and efficiency is maximised

* Maintenance and development of existing customers with the aim to grow revenue year on year

* Create new business opportunities

* Work with the production supervisors to allocate labour resources and prioritise if required.

* Recruitment, selection & training of staff

* Control of purchasing and overheads to ensure that best profit margins are achieved.

* P&L responsibility for the company.

* Management of stock levels.

* Identify and negotiate bulk stock purchases

* Overall responsibility for company Health & Safety

* Maintenance of the existing accreditations and EN1090 system

* Responsibility for the management, development and growth of the business unit.

Required Skills and Experience

* Extensive Fabrication/Welding production management experience is essential

* Experienced in costing and quoting of large fabrication jobs in stainless steel

* Proven track record of managing a team of 35+ staff

* Up to date knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and practices

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Fluent with Microsoft Office programs

* Man-manager that can maintain good discipline whilst developing the team

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.

A very competitive basic salary with the opportunity to earn a significant performance related bonus will be offered to the right candidate.
