The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independently owned non-profit hospital, where we pride ourselves on our values, and putting the patient at the heart of everything we do.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal Team. Working within a friendly, busy, small in-house legal team, you will be negotiating, drafting and amending a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical commercial contracts and agreements on a part-time basis. You may also be providing guidance on commercial matters to the wider business.

The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independently owned non-profit hospital, and we have been providing exceptional care since 1932. We have 8 premises, where we perform highly complex procedures as well as routine surgery & medicine.

Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 beds and 10 theatres, and The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and 47 dedicated patient bedrooms for Oncology & Haematology patients.

Job Profile:

The Legal Counsel would ideally be a UK qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2-3 years PQE (although other candidates will be considered). Drafting skills are essential and we are especially keen to hear from candidates with in-house counsel experience. Due to the busy and varied nature of the role, it is essential that you are experienced in a wide range of commercial contracts as you will have a fair degree of autonomy in this role.

* Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.

* Salary: The attractive salary for this role is up to £55k per annum, and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Handle a wide range of commercial contracts from drafting through to negotiation and finalisation. Work to minimise risk and manage any disputes that arise as a result of breach of contract.

• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships within the organisation to ensure that legal advice is consistently sought by internal clients when needed. Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as suppliers and industry regulators.

• Advise the business with regards to changes in legislation that affect the company, its clients and industries.

Skills & Experience

* Be a UK qualified lawyer with at least 2/3 years' PQE*

* Minimum of one year in-house legal experience in a hospital, legal, company secretary or corporate administration setting

* Strong interest in Healthcare and an understanding of the issues and business of an independent hospital

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external client relationships
