Trailar, a start-up business within DPDHL, specialises in reducing fuel and emissions of commercial vehicles in a bid to save money and make our roads greener. This is primarily achieved through state of the art solar panels being added enabling reusable, clean energy to help power multiple parts of the vehicle.

Since its inception, Trailar has grown from a team of three to a team of 25 with bases in Manchester, Rugby and Germany and has sold of 600 'kits' to the Supply Chain & Logistics industries across the world.

As part of the next wave of development, we are no in search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to assist the business on its continued path of growth and development.

The role of CFO will include developing long term strategies, new international relationships and core financial processes. Managing a small team in Manchester you will be responsible for the following:
  • Overall management of the Trailar Finance function as a member of the Board of Management
  • Developing and understanding funding requirements and driving funding discussions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting including forecasting, estimates and supporting the strategic direction of the company's short, medium and long term strategy
  • Analysis and reporting of financial activity in a timely and accurate manner with recommendations for improvements
  • Drive financial and operational performance / change and initiate corrective measures to achieve profitability targets
  • Supporting the wider business with evaluating business proposals with a view to maximise returns and minimising risk
  • Managing taxation issues with support from tax specialists
  • Maintain optimum levels of cash flow whilst minimising exposure, managing relationships with banking institutes
  • Overseeing the delivery of all activities for each country either directly or indirectly via a team / third parties
  • Supporting the business in its strategic commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers and stakeholders

To be considered as our new CFO you must match our core competencies and experience requirements:
  • Experience of working for a start-up and understanding the unique circumstances associated with such an organisation
  • Previous financial experience in a senior board level position with overall responsibility for a finance function
  • Experience of influencing key strategic business decisions from a financial perspective
  • Creative problem solver with the conviction to propose and support new ideas whilst knowing when to remain steadfast within internal and external negotiations
  • Experience of setting up KPIs for a new organisation from a Finance and Commercial perspective
  • Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation and management skills
  • Qualified Accountant with either ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Finance related degree
