Multi-Skilled Engineer - London - Immediate Start - 29-32k
A university which is a world-leading centre of educational excellence are looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their team. It comprises some 80 buildings ranging from four fine Victorian Grade II listed buildings, a number of former domestic properties.
The successful candidate will be taking care of a few building within the university's vicinity.
Main duties:
To undertake all types of electrical maintenance & repairs duties on and around all sites and to carry them out to a high standard and in a timely manner as set out by the Head of Maintenance and Engineering.
  • To work within a team from different trades to support the Estates and Facilities Department.
  • To report on time for your shift and if necessary to follow Goldsmiths University of London Absent Policies and Procedures.
  • To support all in-house maintenance team services to the agreed service specifications, SLA`s (Service level Agreement) and KPI`s (Key performance indicators) efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • To be held accountable and responsible for your own work load and time management.
  • To participate in weekly fire alarm testing.
  • To respond to all emergency call outs when requested to do immediately in order to allow the University`s core services to continue with the least disruption possible.
  • To undertake other duties that may be required.

PAT (portable appliance testing)
  • To support your colleagues in the maintenance team with a variety of tasks and duties when the workload requires it.
  • To manage and monitor all stock levels within the electrical maintenance store to ensure that availability and suitability for any eventuality.
  • To ensure that all tools, equipment and materials used on site meet health and safety requirements and standards.
  • To ensure that the workshop, stores, plant and equipment are kept in a safe clean and working condition and that all slips, trips and falls are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • To use a company mobile phone and to carry a lone working device well on campus.
  • To check work related requests, e-mails, messages and take phone calls and to ensure that all work requests are dealt with promptly and effectively.
  • To be trained on the Estates and Facilities Department BeMS (Building Energy Management System).
  • To stay abreast of the latest legislation affecting areas of work, including attending or undertaking any relevant training that is necessary to ensure that professional qualifications remain up to date.
  • To follow all guidelines on signing in and out during outside of normal office hours.
  • To respond and deal with all enquiries from the Help Desk in a timely manner and to promote the Estates and Facilities Department positively.
  • To work co-operatively with staff, customers and stakeholders.
  • To liaise with the Maintenance Service Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, team members, contractors and the Estates & Facilities team on work and specifications to ensure the seamless completion of works is carried out.
  • To use the maintenance vehicles as appropriate to carry out duties when necessary.
  • To actively participate in recycling initiatives and contribute towards the University's commitment to environmental and financial sustainability.
  • To wear the correct uniform/PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which is provided by the Estates & Facilities department at well at work and on duty.
