Role: IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate)

Based: Greater Manchester

Rate: £13 - 16 per hour

Qualification(s): SafeLives (previously CAADA) and/ or DAPA is desirable

Length: 6 months (with the possibility of an extension)

Hours: 37.5

Start date: Immediate

Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in Greater Manchester, is looking to recruit an experienced Independent Domestic Violence Advocate. This role is 6 months with a possibility of an extension.

You will be joining an experienced and dedicated team who support and advocate of behalf of women, men and children fleeing Domestic Abuse.

Synopsis of duties:

Advocating on behalf on high risk victims of domestic violence and supporting them through the Criminal Justice System whilst ensuring their safety and well-being remains paramount
Supporting client both over the phone and face to face and providing both crisis management and on going support
Informing clients on the full range of civil, criminal and practical options and enabling and empowering client to make informed decisions
Carrying out CAADA DASH Assessments and advising on safety plans and risk minimalisation
Assessing referrals, signposting to additional services and supporting client is finding refuge accommodation
Making referrals to and attending MARAC and Child Protection conferences
Carrying out joint working with GPs, Health Visitors, Schools, Solicitors, Counselling Services, Housing, the Police, Probation, Social Services and various Refuge Providers
Attending Court and advocating on clients behalf and advising clients on all aspects of the criminal justice system
Assisting clients with witness statements, advising on legal options and signposting to Legal Services

Essential Requirements:

Extensive experience of supporting and advocating on behalf of Domestic Violence victims
Ability to crisis manage and work well under pressure
Strong organisation and diary management skills
Proven success of carrying and managing a high case load.
Enhanced DBS within the last 12 months
