Our esteemed client in Public sector is looking for an Assistant Service Charge Accountant based in Ealing on a 3 months contract basis paying £17.29/hour (PAYE).

The role holder will be responsible for:
  • To work with the Team Leader- Systems and Service Charge Accounting to ensure all relevant Landlord Services expenditure is properly and accurately recharged to tenants and service charge payers; Calculating and issuing annual services charge Estimated invoices and Final Accounts in accordance with contractual and statutory obligations
  • To work together with all relevant stakeholders to establish a system of correct recording and allocation of Landlord Services expenditure to maximise income from services charges.
  • To calculate service charges for each agreed cycle within the development programme for review providing guidance and support to development and ensuring compliance with current legislation. This will include attending new scheme meeting and site visits.
  • To work together with the Team Leader- Systems and Service Charge Accounting and Central Systems Finance Manager to support the monthly budget monitoring exercise, year-end closing and other projects, systems or tasks.
  • To work on financial reconciliations, ensuring variances are investigated and fully resolved promptly.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Experience from Finance background with relevant and up to date knowledge on the Legislation/ guidance on calculating Service charges for both - Housing Tenants and Leaseholders.
  • Proven experience of calculating Services Charges for the two Tenancy types above (existing accounts) from beginning to the end.
  • Proven experience of 'new builds development service charges calculation' either if managed by the organisation or by an appointed agent of the developer.
  • Good Experience with Finance Reconciliations.
  • Specific Accounting qualification is not essential although beneficial.
  • Excellent Advanced Excel Skills
  • Good Communication skills and ability to develop business networking with colleagues and various services across Place Directorate.
