JOB - Project Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION - Surrey

TERM - Permanent

SALARY - £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

My client designs and manufactures specific vehicles and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Project Engineer/ Development Engineer on a permanent basis in the Surrey area as they are expanding their team.

The Project Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • HNC / HND / NVQ / BSc / BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 8 years' or more experience working in a similar varied Senior Engineering Design or Development role - previous exposure to design, production and also quality control
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software - ideally Pro Engineer / Creo
  • Have a good understanding of design and manufacturing processes - casting, suspension, forging, moulding, powertrain and also vehicle dynamics
  • Any previous experience within the Automotive or Motorsport industry would be desirable
  • Any exposure to gearboxes, batteries or electric drives would also be desirable
  • Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team and leading from the front
  • Have a good understanding of FMEA
  • Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Be keen to develop with a company long term

The Project Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Working within the current engineering team on product development
  • Working as part of a small team on existing projects as well as being in the design and development of new components and assemblies
  • Being involved in FMEA, testing and fault resolution
  • Producing 3D designs using Pro Engineer CAD software
  • Dealing directly with suppliers globally when required and helping to develop the Supply Chain to support growth targets
  • Managing various sub-assemblies
  • Helping to mentor other members of the Engineering team
  • Solving any root causes defects
