Our Client is a leading global supplier of software systems for the management of dangerous goods in sea transport, and is seeking a professional, experienced Business Development Manager to join their team. You will have a proven track record in maintaining business to business relationships and developing ideas from concept to contract.

The company has entered an exciting growth phase with new products and software development roadmap. The role will support the Commercial Director to maximize business to business sales through the development and growth of national and international business opportunities.

We are looking for someone with a keen aptitude to lead sales and develop strategic business to business relationships, track new markets and emerging trends, and guide long-term objectives to meet business needs and requirements.

Duties include:
  • Develop and nurture ideas for niche markets and new products.
  • Working hand in hand with a very experienced operational team and software development team.
  • Ability to work independently at times with travel both nationally and internationally.
  • The candidate must have managerial experience and the ability to create own ideas and concepts to further promote existing and new services.
  • To act as an ambassador between the company and its existing and potential markets
  • Negotiating of new contracts, the terms of an agreement and closing sales.
  • Preparation of any new contracts, amendments to current agreements and ensuring correct internal authorisation is gained prior to finalisation of the agreement.
  • Gathering market and customer information and feeding future buying trends back to the management
  • Representing the organisation at trade exhibitions, events and networking events to further drive new customer engagement and raise the profile of the company

Practical & Technical Knowledge
  • Good knowledge and experience in the transport of goods at sea.
  • Knowledge of the transportation of dangerous goods and associated compliance.
  • Good understanding of IT software development processes and lifecycle.
