About the role

You will work with the Marketing Team to ensure Bristol Energy stays true to its purpose in all communications - whether internally to our people and council stakeholders or externally to customers and the media.

This role is exciting, fast-paced and varied - so you will need to be able to turn your hand to a number of activities and be personable, confident, upbeat and self-motivated.

Your key duties will include:
  • Manage all our communications - PR, corporate communications, internal communications and stakeholder engagement, particularly with our shareholder Bristol City Council
  • Develop the annual communications plan and strategy
  • Create compelling content for the brand through multi-channel campaigns
  • Support the senior leadership team to create the annual business plan, social Impact report, presentations and public facing plans and any associated PR and social activity
  • Focus on our purpose at all times through creating content, making business decisions and advising peers and colleagues on the best way to tell the story around our social value purpose
  • Design and implement PR and communications campaigns that support Bristol Energy's goals - to build brand reputation and maximise positive engagement with all of our audiences internally and externally
  • Research, write and sell-in engaging press releases and content, through building and maintaining strong relationships with media contacts and partners
  • Keep a close eye on key news stories within our region and industry to identify opportunities for us to take a view or provide a comment. Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and opportunities
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with the media, community partners and internal colleagues across the business at all levels.
  • Work closely with digital and social media colleagues to ensure all of our channels reflect the communications campaigns, collaborating to create content and use these channels to build engagement with our audiences
  • Identify any potential brand and reputational risk, and raise in a timely manner to appropriate stakeholders
  • Ensure the efficient running of the department and press office.
About you
You must have:
  • At least three years of communications experience
  • The ability to think strategically and have good judgement in a high pressure, fast paced and changing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an understanding of effective and compelling writing styles for digital and print, and for different audiences
  • A creative approach and the ability to come up with new ideas
  • A proactive and highly organised method to ensure projects are delivered to deadlines and within agreed budgets
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a persuasive and collaborative approach and the ability to work as part of a busy team
  • An understanding and enthusiasm for business with a social purpose
You will ideally have:
  • In-house communications experience
  • Understanding of complex subject matter and audiences within a regulated environment
