Excellent media relations with the ability to 'sell in' and develop pro-active stories

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

Ability to lead client meetings and become the main point of contact for clients

Ability to take part in new business meetings

Ability to cross-sell other services and develop clients

Ability to manage junior members of the team


Client management

Develop an understanding of client business and industry issues

Establish yourself as the main day-to-day point of contact for clients and maintain professional and effective relationships

Ensure service levels are maintained to agreed levels, escalating issues as appropriate

Communicate effectively with clients both on the phone and via e-mail

Seek out opportunities for your clients and present ideas to them

Ensure you are compliant with Peppermint Soda procedures for best practice at all times

Lead client meetings, if required, and ensure the meeting runs smoothly

Manage agendas, activity reports and contact reports for clients

Research & writing skills

Research and write press releases; technical features for clients from a variety of sectors, within tight timescales

Write blogs and social media posts on behalf of clients; the agency

Ensure high standards of grammar and accuracy are used at all times and assist in quality control/proofreading

Media relations

Develop a good understanding of UK and/or foreign media as appropriate

Research and develop media lists and lists of bloggers/influencers where appropriate for specific clients/projects

Liaise with selected media/influencers and develop strong contacts

Manage press ring-rounds e.g. exhibitions and product launches

Ensure 'sell in grids' are completed for both press releases and proactive calls

Monitor and track press coverage and present in Peppermint Soda format

Social media management

Understand when to use different social media channels and how to effectively use each one to gain maximum publicity

Manage social media planners and make ad hoc posts and scheduled posts as required

Manage the compilation of reports on social media coverage

Creative thinking

Take part in regular team and individual creative brainstorm sessions to develop ideas proactively for clients

Be able to communicate your ideas effectively to the rest of the team

Organisational skills and attention to detail

Be able to juggle workload across a number of clients

Demonstrate effective time management, completing tasks in a timely manner in order to meet deadlines

Manage the organisation of events, photo calls, press conferences and other client activities

Marketing services management

Have a good understanding of the wider aspects of marketing, including design, print, photography, video, e-mail and website development

Have good relationships with key suppliers and negotiate favourable prices for clients/the agency

Manage the production of quotes digital and design projects, ensuring mark-up is added for third party costs

Manage small to medium-scale design and digital projects, working with the in-house studio and liaising with clients as appropriate

Manage supplier briefings, photographic shoots etc.

Media buying; social media advertising

Research paid media opportunities for clients

Negotiate prices on behalf of clients, obtaining agency commission where applicable

Ensure the timely delivery of advertising copy/artwork to meet media deadlines

Have a good understanding of the various social media advertising channels e.g. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and the various forms of advertising e.g. promoted posts, creative ads etc.

Manage & execute social media advertising campaigns as per strategy

Account development & new business

Attend pitches as part of a new business team and contribute to new business proposals

Look for opportunities to develop your clients, whether by increasing their consultancy days, developing campaigns, or cross-selling other marketing services

Line management

Mentor junior members of the account management team and cover their duties if necessary

Monitor progress of work and workload of junior members of the account management team

Escalate any team issues to senior management as appropriate
