Assistant Fee Earner PT - Complex Injury Claims- Coventry

Are you an experience case handler looking to move into complex claims?

We have 2 roles available, one with a motor focus and the other with a Casualty focus. These role offer an excellent opportunity to work within the Complex Injury Claims Team assisting a Lead Fee earner dealing with either caseload of EL/PL or RTA non-delegated high value multi track cases consisting of claims typically in excess of £500k. In this role you may also be required to assist your Lead Fee earner in activities which enhance and develop Keoghs profile.

This role is a part time position either 3 or 4 days per week and is based in our Coventry office.

Key Accountabilities

In accordance with the strategy set by the Lead Fee Earner, progress each file from the receipt of papers from the Insurer to claims resolution dealing with aspects of quantum and liability, including:

• Dealing with Disclosure
• Instructing Counsel/investigators/medical and other experts/surveillance
• Reviewing witness statements
• Drafting questions to medical experts
• Drafting in general
• Costs Schedules
• Research
• Preparing/checking Trial Bundles
• Reviewing surveillance
• Attending Conferences and Trial with Counsel
• Negotiations/ Drafting Part 36 offers
• Dealing with routine correspondence
• Conducting site inspections and investigations
• Conducting CMC's and applications (where appropriate)
• To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011

At the discretion of the Lead Fee Earner and as a development opportunity the Assistant may also undertake the following:

• Initial report/review
• Reviewing matters throughout
• Review and/or report re exchange of evidence, receipt of medical evidence, joints statements or at any other stage.
• Counter Schedule
• Pre-Trial reports
• CRU appeal

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Qualified solicitor, current trainee about to qualify or proven experience is essential
• Experience handling EL/PL or RTA claims
• Good advocacy skills

• Excellent IT Skills including a good knowledge of excel
• Excellent research skills
• A strong knowledge of relevant insurance principles
