As the Database Administrator you will report to the Head of Research to take a lead role in the organisations data strategy.

Accountabilities: Database Administrator

Strategy:
  • Working alongside the Head of Research play a key role in the organisation's data strategy.
  • Play a key role in the procurement and implementation of the organisations case management system. Following the successful procurement you will be the lead in managing this contract ensuring performance measures are met.
  • Producing useful insight and valuable information from various raw data sources.

Performance Management
  • Improving the reliability, consistency, relevance, usability and timeliness of all reports.
  • Using BI and reporting tools including the introduction of PowerBI Reporting to take up the reporting and data interrogation needs where existing functionality doesn't exist.
  • Determining other information requirements and then creating refreshable standard and ad hoc reports, and automated alerts for various departments.
  • Working with colleagues within other departments to identify and resolve data related problems and generally ensuring the integrity of the data.
Person Specification - Database Administrator
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience of SQL Server, SQL Reporting, Advanced Excel & Access is essential, and in particular an understanding of the data structures, form and report design
  • Power BI experience / understanding of a BI tool.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft SQL database and related interrogation and reporting tools i.e. SQL Reports.
  • Business awareness and numerical ability.
  • First class Microsoft Excel skills underpinning naturally strong analytical skills. Experience of pivot tables, charts is essential.
  • Good all round working knowledge of VBA, with specific experience within Excel and Access.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work without much supervision. An inherent desire to continually make improvements rather than accept the status quo.
  • Ability to deliver all required information to agreed deadlines an analytical and logical disposition.
  • An understanding/awareness of information legislation, such as the GDPR


Qualifications
  • Degree / HND / Industry Qualification in Information Technology/Computer Science/Maths/Operational Research or similar
