Head Teacher
Leith Walk Primary School

Salary: £61,476 (Subject to Job Sizing)
Hours: 35 per week

Leith Walk Primary is a welcoming, forward thinking, inclusive school in Edinburgh city centre. It is part of the Drummond Cluster along with Abbeyhill Primary and Broughton Primary. The school building is a traditional Victorian building.

The Senior Leadership team includes a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, Principal Teacher and Business Manager. The school is very well supported by its Parent Council.

In 2019/20, the school will have 11 classes, with approximately 220 children, a nursery that caters for 50 morning and 50 afternoon children and an Eligible Twos Nursery with 10 morning and 10 afternoon places.

Serving a richly diverse community, nearly 60% of the school roll has English as an Additional Language, and currently have children speaking around 40 different home languages. The staff and pupils have support from the EAL service on a weekly basis. The school has a Breakfast Club and several activity clubs for pupils.

Pupil Equity Funding has been used last session to allow a PEF Development Officer to support identified children across the school with literacy and numeracy, A PEF Pupil Support Assistant has been supporting children with attendance, fine motor skills and Health and Wellbeing needs.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
