Veritas are working closely with a well-known Primary School in the borough of Hillingdon, who are looking for enthusiastic graduates to join them as general teaching assistants in mainstream education or within the SEN department.

Teaching Assistant

Start/ Duration: Full time from September onward

Area: Hillingdon Borough

What do you need to apply?
  • Graduate: Psychology degree or an alternative university degree
  • Passionate about enhancing children's education
  • A September 2019 availability

What does this role include?

Expressions of interest are invited from graduates who are able to demonstrate the necessary experience and mastery of effective classroom support.

The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and demonstrable ability to secure positive behaviour, improved communication, together with social and emotional resilience in children and young people with additional learning needs.

The overarching aim of this initiative is to improve whole-school practice as part of the Hillingdon Borough SCERTS programme.

The SCERTS approach looks at the strengths of children and young people rather than identifying areas of problem behaviour. It incorporates practices from many other approaches, enabling teachers to identify each child's developmental level. This is the key which will enable teachers to pick up the right strategy, attach to the right identified outcomes, at the right time, in each child's neuro developmental stage. The research evidence confirms, that in so doing, each child is able to achieve and progress and thus reach full potential.

Those expressing an interest are advised to carry out initial research as the initiative will require a full commitment in order to embed the ethos, pedagogy and practices. As champion of the primary phase, the successful candidate will be required to attend borough training sessions, actively engage with the programme and be confident to cascade their training to other colleagues at phase level.

Apply now if you would like to be considered for this full time opportunity to begin in September 2019 on a 1 year contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
