Our client is an independent financial services firm and principal investor group, specialising in supply chain finance, structured trade finance, working capital optimisation, speciality financing, and contract monetisation.

Headquartered in London (with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Frankfurt, Bremen, Johannesburg, Sydney, Bundaberg, Singapore and Warrington), the firm was founded in 2011 and is managed by a highly experienced team of fixed income and trade finance specialists with the goal of providing innovative and alternative working capital finance solutions globally.

The company is an active and established investor in supply chain finance assets utilising its own balance sheet as well as that of its subsidiary bank, a regulated German private bank. As well as holding assets, the team actively distributes assets to a wide array of investors including banks and institutional investors, in turn creating a wide range of credit appetite for its deals.

The Role

Reporting to the HoAF&O the ideal candidate will be proficient in supporting the implementation of an organisation's Financial Crime Management framework and controls. Experience in developing and implementing an AML Toolkit including 1) AML and Sanctions Policies, 2) Standard Operating Procedures, 3) KYC Matrix and 4) Customer Risk Rating Methodology whilst) taking into account regional financial crime regulatory requirements. The role includes liaison with Origination, Customer Onboarding, Risk and Operations across the business.

Key job activities:
  • Support the development and implementation of the financial crime framework, associated policies, procedures and controls;
  • Development of the company's AML toolkit which includes 1) AML and Sanctions Policies, 2) Standard Operating Procedures, 3) KYC Matrix, 4) Customer Risk Rating Methodology and 5) PEP Framework;
  • Responsible for tracking, analysing and carrying out impact assessments and provide expert advice on new regulations, enforcement actions and consultations to ensure that our AML Toolkit is in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice;
  • Support the HoAF&O to ensure that new policies, procedures and guidance are communicated effectively through circulars and training;
  • Develop and maintain the AML regulatory file that can be provided to regulators as and when requested;
  • Deputise for the HoAF&O at working groups and forums (internal and external) about policy initiatives, consultations and legal regulatory changes;
  • Provide leadership and direction to the company's senior management and the Compliance/ AML function and keep them informed on emerging themes, including the provision of regular reporting to the company's Risk Committee; and
  • Support the championing of a proactive Financial Crime risk culture across the business.

Qualifications:
  • Degree level education with Legal qualification preferred; and
  • ICA Financial Crime qualification (advanced level).

Skills:
  • Strong advocacy and expert drafting skills - preferably as a legal advisor - or proven experience drafting global compliance policies (or similar);
  • Proven experience in the design and implementation of financial crime policies and procedures in a globally regulated financial services firm;
  • Extensive Financial Crime experience working within a Financial Institution that operates in multiple jurisdictions;
  • Excellent oral and written capabilities with desire to actively participate in industry events and assist with the development of policies;
  • Understanding of commercial financial products, accounts receivables and the payments industry; and
  • Experience of working within a high-pressure environment, managing activities to tight timelines and displaying collaboration across multiple stakeholders by driving continuous improvements and efficiency initiatives.

Experience:
  • In-depth knowledge of UK, EU (4, 5, and 6 MLD) and Middle East or Asia laws, regulations and legislative and regulatory processes/ expectations relating to AML and financial crime with a good knowledge of how they compare to equivalent rules in the US; and
  • Minimum five years relevant experience of working within a Financial Crime function either within a large or challenger bank, financial institution, law firm or regulated fintech.
