Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting

To complement our rapid growth, we are seeking a Senior Revenue Manager with a Chartered Account or CPA equivalent and solid background in Public Accounting plus industrial experience, preferably in the Cloud Subscription industry, with revenue accounting focus. This is a hands-on Senior Manager Revenue Accounting role to lead the UK based Revenue Operations accounting and billing/credit team. This role will report to the Revenue Controller (San Jose based) who owns global revenue accounting, analysis and reporting, and will manage a team of 15 members including revenue accountant, Billing, Credit & Collections, and Billing Support team as part of that Global Revenue Operations team based in the Aylesbury office in UK.

In this position, you will be responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting, overseeing the application of technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards as well as its application to complex revenue transactions. The person in this role should be a strong communicator who not only master technical requirements but possess great business acumen and is able to work effectively with peers and management across the continents and in a high-paced and demanding environment. The ideal candidate is someone who is has a strong technical accounting background, have been working in technology or preferred SaaS based industry, have been overseeing revenue accounting with progressive advancements over the years, is a good mentor and can be flexible to new processes and continuous system enhancements as occurred.Additionally, this person can respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to both business changes as well as increased ad hoc analytical needs driven via headquarter office.

This position will be located at our Aylesbury UK office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Revenue Operations organization's subject matter expert on revenue accounting and collaborate cross-functionally productive, proactive business partnerships with legal, deal desks, sales support, and professional services team in relative to contract negotiations to provide necessary guidance on technical accounting, policy or process issues around revenue recognition
  • Oversee review of non-standard contracts to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP and 8x8 policies
  • Work closely with the Company's internal and external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are adhered to and monitored and prepare schedules and reports in support of annual audit
  • Develop, maintain and update internal controls documentation for revenue recognition and support audits of internal controls
  • Identify, design and propose ways to make the revenue accounting function, including credit adjustment or provisions are more efficient, accurate and reviewed timely on a global basis
  • Own the complete revenue close cycle: ensure Contract Review, Revenue Journals, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, all reconciliations, SOX Controls, and Audit pertaining to all UK/ EMEA based customer transactions are all performed, and are recorded timely and accurately
  • Mentor and manage and develop team members to ensure a high performing team

Key Requirements
  • 10+ years of combined experience in both public accounting and leading a revenue accounting function in a publicly traded company
  • B.S. in Finance or Accounting
  • Chartered Accountant or CPA required
  • Big 4 experience highly preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant revenue accounting guidance under ASC 606 relating to SaaS and services revenue recognition and multiple-element arrangements
  • Ability and a desire to research and document US GAAP with an emphasis on ASC 606
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience developing and building teams
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical accounting requirements to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop/recommend solutions, and resolve complex revenue accounting issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting goals and deadlines
  • Strategic thinker with ability to drive change
  • Salesforce and NetSuite experience
  • Cross-functional communication, skills and experience are essential
