We are representing a rapidly expanding Kent based Aerospace engineering organisation with a prestigious client base and a full order book. They seek to recruit an accomplished Engineering Operations Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of new product introduction and any other associated customer projects, leading a team of project and process engineers

Working closely with the customer base and a group of sub-contract suppliers, the Engineering Operations Manager will plan the workload and resource for a team of experienced engineers, ensuring all NPI projects are delivered in line with OTIF, safety and quality KPIs, all the time promoting a 'zero defect, right first time' culture within the team.

Key skills

·Degree level qualification in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar - preferred

·Previous experience in the Aerospace sector is highly advantageous

·Previous experience leading, motivating and further developing a team of project Engineers

·Experience delivering new product introductions through an engineering team

·Experience in delivering cap ex justifications

·Experienced in project management, working on several projects concurrently, and using tools such as GANTT charts, MS Project, MS Excel for successful planning and execution

·Familiar with working to structured, gated processes to deliver NPI (APQP, FMEA, PFMEA, PPAP)

·Good understanding of root cause problem solving techniques - 8D, A3, Ishikawa etc.

·Experience using 2D and 3D CAD

·Understanding of Engineering Change processes

·FAIRS reporting desirable - not essential

·A knowledge of castings or forgings is highly desirable

Please note this role does not involve product development or design, and is focused on managing new product introductions in terms of process and documentation

Could suit a technically biased Production Manager or Operations Manager with experience in the aerospace sector

Importantly, we seek an excellent people manager who will coach, mentor and develop their team to deliver exceptional results. A senior Engineering professional who shows excellent project planning skills, strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail, who has excellent customer focus, and who will routinely solve problems at root cause and consistently seek to improve processes.

You will work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, with on time delivery and optimum quality always being the key objective and at the heart of all decisions.
