Are you a dynamic leader with an adventurous side seeking a new challenge? Look no further!

We are very pleased to be working on behalf of the Falklands Islands Government to appoint their new Director of Education. This a truly exciting position and will offer the right candidate the experience of a lifetime.

The Falkland Islands is a British Overseas Territory, with a full internal self-government, it covers a land area of 4700 square miles (12,000 square kilometres) and a coastline estimated at 800 miles (1,300 km). The archipelago consists of two main islands: West Falkland and East Falkland, and about 776 small and very small islands, mostly uninhabited. The Falkland Islands are a small, thriving, self-sufficient community with a British way of life, benefiting from excellent local services, beautiful scenery and the glorious absence of traffic jams!

The role
Education on the Falkland Islands is unique. The Islands have a small population, with big ambitions. It will be your job to help turn these ambitions into reality.

This is an amazing opportunity to lead the development, operational delivery and improvement of all aspects of Education across The Falkland Islands. You will also become a member of Chief Executive's Corporate Management Team, contributing to the wider strategic direction of the FIG. You will be key in breaking down the barriers to the effective delivery of the Islands education services.

The FIG and the island will offer a warm welcome to the successful candidate (and their family!) with a relocation package and housing at a heavily discounted rate.

The person
Professionally, you will have an excellent track record in providing effective strategic development and dynamic leadership. A positive operating culture is key, whilst pushing for continuous improvement that benefits students, lifelong learners, staff and the wider community alike.

You should have strong inter-personal skills, and the capacity to motivate and lead several high performing teams with enthusiasm and assertiveness, whilst managing the expectations and demands of a wide range of stakeholders in a pragmatic and confident manner.

It is important that you empower the core values and ethos of the FIG and understand both the benefits and challenges of delivering education in an environment such as the Falkland Islands.

You will be a creative problem solver, with determination and the passion to succeed in developing and improving the education of the young people of The Falkland Islands.

Personally, you will have an adventurous side, be up for anything and have a real community spirit. Whether you are an outdoor adventurer, budding photographer or simply love nature, then this unspoilt landscape offers it all.
