** FINANCE ASSISTANT - YORK CENTRE - 6 MONTH CONTRACT **

THE ROLE:
This is a temporary position, on a 6 month-fixed-term contract basis due to movements and changes within the team.
The candidate will support mainly the Purchase manager in the day-to-day activities. The role also has its own duties in the Expense Ledger and monthly overtime hours calculation.
Ideally, the candidate should have at least one to two years of purchase ledger experience and the ability to process large volumes of transactions with accuracy and confidence.
Good Excel & Access skills, accurate data input, organised and attention to detail, are key attributes we are looking for.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

(A) Purchase Ledger
- Manage and process incoming invoices daily, including scanning, matching, attaching invoices, coding and data inputting on the accounting system, Progression.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Co-ordinate weekly invoice payment and preparation.
- Monthly supplier statements reconciliation.

(B) Personnel & Expense Ledger
- Co-ordinate with HR, set up and administer staff movement records on the Accounting and the Expenses Systems.
- Review all employee expenses submission, handle inquiries and prepare weekly expenses payments;
- Maintain spreadsheet records for bank and expenses payments, one-off's bank and visa card payment requests;
- Calculate monthly permanent staff overtime hours for submission to HR for payroll purposes; and handle all inquiries related to such;
- Entering and updating the charging tables and rates for special projects, set up and maintain team codes and grades, as provided by the Systems Accountant.

(C) Others
- Weekly timesheet updates, chasing and inquiries;
- Assist in handling time transfers and disbursement adjustments between projects on the accounting system;
- Assist in running D&B credit reports and checks for Proposal team and project managers.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Accountancy qualifications, such as AAT Level 1 or 2 would be ideal, though not essential.
- Purchase ledger experience.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to understand accounting processes/ procedures essential.
- Ability to communicate in a professional way to other parts of the business.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
- Mature and sensible in working behaviour.
- Independent, reliable, but also a team player.
- Good time keeping.
