This is an exciting opportunity to join the management accounts team in Daisy's Corporate Services division based in Nelson. This role is ideal for a university graduate seeking a hands on role and gaining valuable experience in management accounting.

The role of a Graduate Management Accountant will involve the following responsibilities:
  • Support on the production of the monthly management accounts including journal postings, reviewing invoices posted to the ledger and posting/managing balance sheet accruals/deferrals.
  • Variance and trend analysis to prior year, budget and forecast.
  • Production of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with intercompany divisional accounts - working with the finance managers to ensure all transactions are correctly accounted for.
  • Working with the Head of Financial Improvement and management accounts team to identify and explain trends to improve the understanding of actuals and improve forecasting.
  • Working with the Finance Business Partnering team to continually improve cost centre reporting
  • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-finance manager
  • Assist in the production of divisional budgets and forecasts.
  • Working with the divisional financial controller on ad-hoc projects
  • Develop and document robust internal control environment
  • Carry out any 'ad hoc' assignments as and when required.
  • Be vigilant for possible fraudulent activity and if necessary raise a security incident report using the template accessible via the corporate Intranet.
  • Periodically review Daisy Security Policies - centrally hosted on the Intranet - to ensure full compliance with current legal, regulatory and company requirements.
  • If you are a Manager of staff, you must ensure:
    - The principles listed with the Daisy Group Security Policy Statement document are embedded within the operations of your team.
    - Your team are aware of their security responsibilities & know how to access Daisy Group Security Policies hosted on the Intranet;
  • To be compliant with health and safety company policy and legislation.
  • Relevant degree (minimum 2;1)
  • Experience working in a finance/accounting role is desired but not essential
  • An enquiring mind with excellent analytical, numerical and presentation skills (visually and orally).
  • The ability to follow up lines of enquiry and to report back on findings in a concise manner
  • Adept at communicating and presenting to management across the division
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel is essential (Vlookups, SUMIFs,Pivot tables,etc)
  • Proven ability to prioritise and proactively manage your own workload to strict deadlines
  • Driven and confident individual with a 'can-do' attitude wanting to develop their career in Management Accounting.
  • Knowledge of Sage useful but not essential
  • Study support will be provided for ACCA/CIMA qualification
