As a result of successes on recent Major Projects frameworks we are looking for a Project Manager to lead our multi-disciplinary design team delivering major highway improvement projects. We are looking to recruit a talented and motivated Project Manager, with experience of Design and Build or Early Contractor Involvement delivery, to join our team in Leeds.

Following recent wins, we are looking for committed team players to join our Leeds transportation engineering team, supporting our major projects nationally and our projects in the north of England. You will get hands on experience delivering outline and detailed design of highway projects, you will join an inclusive team with the chance to learn from experienced staff and support to training the next generation of engineers.

In this role you will put energy into understanding the customer, their drivers and goals and develop appropriate solutions to solve the clients' problems.

You will be expected to perform the following duties as a Project Manager:
  • Provide leadership to the project team, and facilitate engagement and communication across all disciplines and locations
  • Set up, implement, and maintain quality and financial management systems and processes
  • Ensure compliance with Client requirements regarding delivery, for example Highways England's Project Control Framework
  • Deliver projects to agreed targets; programme, quality and cost.
  • Use key project management tools, such as ProjectWise, Business Collaborator & Primavera P6
  • Regularly review project performance, and discipline performance, setting targets, agreeing corrective action and escalating any issues that are found
  • Maintain accurate financial data projects and ensure cash collection
  • Maintain client contact for project delivery and ensure project delivery meets the client's objectives and requirements
  • Close out projects and undertake lessons learned at key gateways for dissemination into wider internal team
  • Participate in the preparation / presentation of proposals / bids as required including estimating timescales and costs for proposed works
  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines
  • Assist in staff recruitment to ensure the team contains members of the highest calibre

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary project management within the highways sector
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high personal credibility and professionalism
  • Willingness to travel, spending time collocated with the Client and design teams, with work away from home
  • Experience of construction contracts, in particular NEC
  • Experience of BIM, and be an advocate for the value it can bring in design delivery
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and build relationships with different teams to ensure successful delivery
  • Good problem-solving skills with an ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to analyse performance data and communicate trends clearly to the wider team
  • Capability of mentoring and developing junior staff members and the wider development in the team

Professional Membership and Qualification:
  • Relevant degree qualification - either Civil Engineering or Project Management
  • Chartered Member, or equivalent, of a relevant professional institution
