Established utility company based in Sturminster Marshall are recruiting for an experienced Finance Officer to provide financial and finance administrative support by ensuring payments and expenses are properly controlled by verifying and reconciling them in accordance with established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner and supporting the Finance Manager to be able to complete the weekly, monthly and yearly finance timetable.

The position will be based in Sturminster Marshall, Dorset. This will be an opportunity for an individual to develop their skill-set further.

As a Finance Officer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

* Experience of using an ERP system (Microsoft NAV would be highly desirable)

* Experience of double entry bookkeeping - essential

* Experience working as part of a Finance Team - essential

* Experience of using Excel and other Microsoft Office products - essential

* Experience communicating and working with suppliers and customers - essential

* Ability to prioritise and manage your own diary to achieve required goals / deadlines - essential

* Experience of working within a Finance Team and a deadline driven environment - essential

As a Finance Officer your main responsibilities will involve:

* Support a robust and effective financial control environment

* Participate in knowledge transfer with finance team

* Process all supplier invoices accurately and promptly to ensure all invoices are approved for payment in an accurate and timely manner

* Assist in the prompt resolution of invoice discrepancies and supplier queries

* Ensure all PO, Goods inwards and invoice process management exceptions are promptly resolved

* Reconcile supplier statements, and ensure any discrepancies are promptly resolved

* Review supplier balances on the system to ensure the correct payable balance is reported

* Review and process staff expenses

* Assist with all other finance processes including audit and period-end compliance

* Learn about the customer ledger so that you can provide cover as required
