About the job

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our technical team at our Weston Super Mare Plant. This role will be responsible for providing general engineering support to Operations as well as the execution of engineering projects, processes and procedures to improve operating performance and meet customer demands.

Core Duties
  • New product introduction and production engineering support
  • Deployment and validation of new production processes, ensuring the function supports timely and cost competitive bids for new business
  • Project management of new processes and small equipment installations
  • The application of data driven quality tools, PFMEA', Control charts, RCA and SPC techniques to create robust processes, striving towards zero defects manufacturing
  • Investigate non-conformance and incidents applying quality tools to drive to root causes
  • Maintain data driven focus on reducing cost of poor quality participating in multidisciplinary teams
  • Complete MVA activity to ensure the business has insight into the profitability of work streams
  • Works with Leadership Team in the identification and selection of appropriate Continuous Improvement initiatives

About you

We are looking for someone who can 'hit the ground running' and make an impact, ensuring the engineering team maintain their level of service offered. Higher education qualified in an engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred) you will have some plant or project engineering experience. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills through a data driven approach, with the ability to present this data (both written & orally) in a clear, concise and objective way to customers and staff at all levels. Effective project management is an area you thrive in, to be able to meet both internal and external customer driven timescales and deadlines. You will have energy and a drive for results whilst maintaining a steadfast attention to detail in Safety and Quality. You will be highly proficient in Microsoft based systems - Word, Excel, Power point. Previous metallographic laboratory experience and experience in coating/materials/aerospace is desirable.
