REED Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Metals Company with a global client base.

The Role:

To ensure the smooth-running for the operations site, which will incorporate manufacturing/engineering, metal supply chain, logistics and supporting services, such as NDT inspection. Responsible for site maintenance and a is a key member of the senior management team.

Main Duties:

* Ensure all areas achieve their required performance levels in terms of quality, volume, delivery and productivity in line with agreed schedules.
* Develop and monitor key performance indicators and use to generate improvements and address issues.
* Manage the effective performance of staff. Provide on-going coaching and support to the team. Conduct appraisals and objective setting in line with the Company's business plan. Encouraging career development where appropriate.
* Provide a positive, problem solving, can do and energetic approach. Drive change through clear action plans and improving communication channels with other departments and all stakeholders.
* Work with the Sales Team to ensure customer requirements are met.
* Negotiate with suppliers for consumables and services which fall into the areas of operations and site management.
* Ensure the company maintains an agreed stock integrity target by perpetual inventory checks and developing and policing Standard Operating Procedures.
* Participating in the preparation of operational budgets and control spending.
* Establish and implement effective controls for overtime, consumables, operational efficiency and manpower.
* Participate and where nominated lead customer projects in relationship to the operational requirements to deliver the product.
* Ensure that all personnel comply with the company's health and safety policy by establishing monthly risk assessment reviews.
* Operate a Continuous Improvement programme by developing the 5 S principles, 7 wastes through team leader development.
* Enforce and develop health and safety and environmental systems, supported by the H&S manager, to meet relevant standards.
* Instilling into the Operations Leaders a right first time philosophy that supports the company's values.
* Any reasonable task as requested by the Managing Director and Board of Directors.

Essential Skills/Experience

* Experience and proven track record in the metals industry - Ideally in the Nickel alloys, titanium, special steels and processing of metals.
* Proven experience of running a successful Machine Shop, has in depth engineering experience and has ideally come up through "the ranks" of a high grade metals engineering environment.
* Good presentation skills.
* Strong system and process-mapping experience and skills.
* Able to demonstrate polished networking skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Full clean driving licence
* Experience in design for customer specific product applications and product development
* Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
* Knowledge of performance evaluation
* Experience in reporting on key production metrics
* Outstanding communication ability
* Excellent organisational and leaderships skills
