Hanover is looking for a Finance Assistant Apprentice to join the team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in finance and accounting. Progression and development are key to this role, with full support from the business to train on the job and possible progression to further qualifications (ACCA or CIMA). Your initial responsibilities include inputting purchase invoices and supporting the finance team day-to-day.
A typical day:
  • Collate and input all purchase invoices
  • Ensure suppliers are paid on time within agreed terms
  • Process all employee expenses
  • Ensure credit card expenses are recorded to Maconomy and recharged to clients where necessary
  • Manage company petty cash
  • Assist in the VAT returns for the UK & Brussels office
  • Assist the team in updating budgets with accurate cost forecasts
  • Deal with ad-hoc finance queries efficiently
  • Manage the shared finance inbox
  • Approve purchase requests and set up new suppliers
  • Provide support with the company timesheets system
What makes a good candidate?
  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field e.g. Maths, Economics, Finance, Accounting etc.
  • Excellent understanding & experience using Excel
  • Advanced numerical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and close attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team
Entry requirements:
  • Five GCSE grades C - A* (or 4-9), including Maths and English

Included in qualification:
  1. Training on the 18 month Standard Level 3 Assistant Accountant (AAT3) apprenticeship.

What's next:

After your Accounting apprenticeship progress into a full-time role as Junior Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeping Assistant, Junior Tax Consultant or Audit Assistant. You can also complete the ACCA qualification into Chartered Accountancy
