A Purchasing Manager is required for a thriving company based close to Cambridge. This well-established company were formed 17 years ago and provide high specification rooflights to the building services industry and Architectural Glazing Solutions for some high profile projects all over the UK. Now, as the company grow a requirement has arisen for someone to look after some critical areas within the business. This is an all-encompassing role based in Fulbourn, Cambridge and is offered on a Full Time, permanent basis.

The purpose of the position is to take full responsibility for the procurement of goods and services required to fulfil the Rooflight and Glazing projects and orders. Also, assisting with the logistics for distribution throughout the UK. Keeping track of the above and reporting and communication as necessary internally and externally. Ordering of materials and supplies, administration of various procurement contracts and overseeing some warehouse activities. Assisting with logistics and distribution of all rooflights and structural glazing orders. Acting as the main point of contact, internally and externally and keeping all relevant parties updated.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Purchasing/ ordering all RL and Bespoke Residential orders and projects
  • Ordering and management of stock for the upstands & rooflights extrusions, ancillaries
  • Chasing orders and ensuring efficient delivery and lead times
  • Updating and tracking the above and reporting on their progress to all
  • Meeting with sub-contracting firm regularly to plan what will be manufactured, updating the internal system
  • Confirm agreed delivery dates and make sure they are agreeable with the customer
  • Communicating with team & suppliers to ensure smooth collection, delivery and installation
  • Corresponding with clients, updating them of the progress of their order/ project, regarding dispatch and on completion
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork and payments are received prior to delivery
  • Issuing delivery notes to trade partners
  • Working closely with the accounts department to ensure timely receipt of payments
  • Liaising with the Installation Manager and suppliers are required
  • Assisting Project Managers/ Director on larger commercial projects with various areas and phases, ordering, chasing, checking off incoming deliveries and getting outgoing deliveries ready for dispatch to site
  • Dealing with general enquiries
  • Attending project meetings and updating the internal system with new developments thereafter
  • Updating files with order prices for sales ordering

Working closely with the Logistics Manager there will be some duties to assist in this department too from time to time, these will include:
  • Responsible for checking off incoming deliveries
  • Liaising with external transport companies with regards to weekly deliveries
  • Assembly of fixing kits for upstands and rooflight orders

For this role we are ideally seeking an experienced candidate who has some previous dealings with or an understanding of purchasing glass. A great team player who is happy to assist other team members as and when they needs a hand. In particular within the Logistics team. Other skills and attributes include:
  • Experience within Purchasing and Logistics
  • Ideally previous experience within a similar industry
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • The ability to work well in a team and under ones own steam
  • Computer literate
  • Full driving licence
