Reed Finance are currently supporting a Berkshire local authority to recruit an interim Corporate Accountant for a period of up to 6 months.

The role - To support the Financial Planning Lead and to provide advice and support to the Finance Business Partnering Team as required in preparation of the budget, Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) and budget monitoring.

To lead the compilation of the papers for the budget process, including Chief Officers Management Board, Policy Committee, Council, Member Challenge and Scrutiny. To ensure full reconciliation to the original budget, tracking changes to give a full audit trail on the financial system.

Support the Financial Planning Lead on consolidating the monthly financial reporting framework

Supporting the Financial Planning and Analysis Lead in the production and presentation of the Medium Term Financial Strategy:
  • Ensure all changes to the MTFS are documented and can be audited;
  • Ensure technical accuracy and consistency;
  • Review the components to identify inconsistencies and ensure robustness of figures;
  • Support the development of presentations for the Chief Executive and Executive Director of Resources and others to deliver to Senior Officers and elected Members;

Co-ordination of the monthly Monitoring Process:
  • Preparing the summary spreadsheets for the Business Partnering Team to populate
  • Updating the corporate performance indicators from relevant feeder reports
  • Ensure the integrity of the Council's overall budget envelope
  • Monitoring and reporting of all budget virements
