Now is an exciting time to join a leading developer of Optic and Photonic Products at their site in Somerset, as a Product Engineer.

Working across all departments, you will develop key networks with internal departments, customers, suppliers and other third-party service providers.

Working with the Product, Engineering Team to produce high quality, cost effective solutions, you will be able to apply engineering knowledge and principles to devise innovative solutions within manufacturing location capabilities.

Supporting Purchasing, managing obsolescence and improving capability, you will explore and investigate new equipment and processes to support manufacturing growth.

Supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business targets, you will be responsible for the on-time delivery of work from the section.

Meeting Quality System requirements, you will ensure the maintenance / auditing of the customer documentation and folder structure.

Supporting Design and Engineering, you will maintain Routings and BOMs, oversee delivery of conceptual design, layout, prototyping, drawings, BOM, and support Design Reviews.

You will support Customer Service in their communications with external customers.

Investigating production and process issues you will provide technical support to customers, internal teams and their suppliers. Presenting project risks and solutions early within the RFQ/ RFP or product life cycle so allowing the business to respond.


As the successful candidate you will hold a relevant Degree in a Scientific / Electronics / Engineering Discipline, such as Optics, Mechanical or Physical Engineering.

Considerable working experience in a similar NPI Environment and role working with Photonic, Optic and Opto-electronic Products will also be considered.


Through your previous roles you will have gained experience of managing / working within multidiscipline teams within an NPI environment.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working within medium volume manufacturing, particularly within Aerospace, Defence, Industrial and Life Science or AS9100.
