Are you looking for a challenging role within an award winning team? Hilco Appraisal have an opportunity for a Data Analyst to join its Leeds team, working under the Hilco Valuation Services brand.

The Leeds office is based centrally within the city (under 10 minutes walk from the train station) and operates with a focus on plant, machinery and inventory valuations. The Leeds team is relatively small (under 10 staff). The successful applicant would work within the inventory team, and be trained to provide analytical services to both the Leeds office appraisal team, and appraisers within the wider company, including overseas operations. The role would involve working with the other analysts and independently as required.

The role requires a candidate who is able to work accurately under pressure, with a creative, flexible and diligent approach to data analysis. Opportunities for work-based travel and study may be provided, if applicable.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Process, analyse and interpret operative and financial data of businesses across a wide variety of industries and/or market sectors
  • To produce detailed and summarised reports on an ad hoc basis for both external review and internal report preparation
  • Assess inventory performance for businesses both in isolation and with comparable evidence to other areas in the market sector
  • Create bespoke modelling, when necessary, to ensure appraisal techniques are appropriate
  • Provide analytical support and interpretation to appraisal team/senior directorial staff`
  • Research specific industries and provide commentary
  • Engage with third parties to ensure information is received and work is completed to agreed deadlines

Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Advanced MS Excel user with a background in accounting, business, economics or mathematics/statistics
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Ability to manipulate process, interpret and analyse large data sets
  • Ability to translate technical data to be easily understood by non-technical end users
  • Must be thorough, accurate and have an eye for detail, be self-motivated with the ability to prioritise own workload pro-actively and work under pressure in a variable paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required and an ability to build and develop relationships with clients

This role would perhaps suit a part qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA), education to degree level is desirable but not essential

Salary: Competitive salary

Pension: Hilco will match employee contributions up to 6%
