As part of a succession plan, Heyland Recruitment have recently been engaged by our client, a privately-owned, niche and successful Manufacturing business in the Warrington area as they look to appoint an ambitious qualified Management Accountant.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will take the lead on managing the day to day running of the finance team, ensuring quick, accurate and accessible management information in order to guide the overall business strategy and aid manager's decision making in achieving short, medium and long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities include;
  • Producing and interpreting financial information including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow projections
  • Management of obligations in relation to VAT, duty and payroll orientated taxes
  • Management of the company's assets (FA/stock/debtors) and short term and long-term liabilities
  • To co-ordinate the provision of payroll information to external payroll agency
  • Monitoring and managing cash flow and predicting future trends to ensure working capital requirements are adequate and appropriate
  • To support the leadership team in formulating strategic and long-term business plans
  • Researching and reporting on factors influencing the financial and commercial performance of the performance of the business
  • Supporting the leadership team in analysing competitors and market trends
  • Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk
  • Conducting reviews and evaluations to ensure that company expenditure provides value for money in line with the overall organisational objectives
  • Managing management accounting capabilities and reporting systems
  • Management and control of the company's credit risk in line with policies and guidelines
  • Management of statutory audits through to production of accounts to be filed with Companies House
  • Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as HMRC
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines including Swagelok filing requirements
  • Development and management of budgets with the leadership team
  • Day to day management and development of the finance team


The ideal candidate will be an ACA, ACCA, CIMA Qualified Management Accountant who has previous experience of managing a small team within an SME Manufacturing business. You will work proactively as part of the management team, helping to facilitate business growth, identifying sales opportunities and ensuring that company policies and procedures are adhered to throughout the wider business.

This role would suit an ambitious, qualified Management Accountant who is keen/ready to progress into a Finance Manager remit. You will have a sound understanding of up to date reporting standards as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be IT literate and have ideally worked with a large ERP System.
