The Opportunity

This Global OEM based in Manchester is seeking to recruit a Proposals Engineer to join the company on a permanent basis.

The appointee will be responsible for providing sales support to Customers, selecting appropriate company products and producing high quality technical and commercial quotations/bids.

The Job

It will this persons responsibility to select relevant products to suit customer application and produce high quality, technical/commercial, timely Quotations/Bids for any product using the company quotation tool

This could be variable in content and level, e.g.:

A simple Price and Delivery for known product;
Complex bids for Product (involving selection of multiple products from given duty/application data and/or Customer equipment detail);
High value bids for potentially a mixture of Product and ServiceTo be able to assess additional information needed to accompany a bid, e.g:

Literature, where-used information;
Relevant prior referenced experience, 3rd party commentary;
Calculations of key technical outputs relative to the particular product;
General Arrangement drawings, sketches, P&ID or other pictorial representations;
Alternative selections, offers and/or options to the prime selection;
Reasoned argumentation of Features/Benefits to assist in 'selling' of the product/service;
The production and maintenance of a system to track the background to a bid/quote;
Able to reason and justify the value of the bid, if requiring management sign off;
To accurately review/capture Customer Specifications, ensuring all technical, commercial, financial, quality & contractual aspects are identified and select product;
Project Bid liaison with our Central Projects Group;
Ability to learn the Contract management side of the business if required
The maintenance and update of databases in use within this role;
To resolve in a timely manner any queries related to Customers/JC personnel;
To deal professionally with the needs of the Customer, taking full responsibility and accountability to ensure they experience exceptional Customer Service at all times;
Provide first point technical support for key initiatives, bids, orders, specification reviews, returned goods investigations, complaints, etc received from the Customer;
Able to specify and raise requests for proposals or general arrangement drawings.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong Technical / Engineering background (ideally Engineering Degree or equivalent)
Strong technical knowledge (mechanical engineering), with an understanding of bidding / commercial aspect
Basic knowledge of rotating equipment
Able to read engineering datasheets and interpret technical drawings
Good IT knowledge (MS Office)
Good customers service skills
Able to work effectively in a dynamic and pressured environment
Strong commercial acumen
Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
