Project Accountant - Cambridge - £34,000 per annum

A world leading conservation organisation based in Cambridge, currently have an exciting opening for an experienced, part-qualified Project Accountant to join them, providing end to end financial management of multiple projects.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will include the following:

-To provide end to end oversight of financial management of projects, ensuring the organisation is exposed to minimum cash and revenue risk

-To provide operational teams with the required financial information and insight to make appropriate project financial management decisions on a timely basis

-To ensure the complete capture of project income revenue for the organisation and to facilitate accurate and timely invoicing to clients and collection of prompt payments

-To Assist the Finance Manager and CFO to ensure the organisation's project financial management practices are in line with relevant statutory legislation and regulations

-To continually improve financial processes

This client is looking for a part ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified Accountant with the following experience:

-Experience of financial and commercial management of long term projects gained in a complex services organisation

-Sound understanding of project accounting principles including the difference between revenue recognition, invoicing, cash collection and deferred / accrued income

-Experience of costing, budgeting and forecasting projects in multiple currencies

-Demonstrated ability to prepare and update project financial plans to minimise overspends

-Month-end reconciliation of projects year-to-date and cumulative income, unbilled work in progress and aged debt balances

-Preparation of variance analysis and commentary reports on income and expenditure across a portfolio of projects

-Use of reporting tools

-Very strong Excel skills
