3rd Line Support - Senior Support Technician

AL Solutions are looking for a 3rd Line Support - Senior Support Technician to work for a small Biotechnology organisation, based in Abingdon, UK.

The company develop cures for diseases within Immunology and Infectious Diseases.

The Senior Support Technician position is responsible for providing technical support for the server infrastructure and LAN/WAN networks. They will also assist with the day to day support of end users, PC and network security and will be expected to assist with the running and implementation of several technical projects.

Responsibilities

·To maintain/patch/update Server Operating Systems and Applications in line with Company patching and change policies.

·Administer and Maintain Corporate Applications and Systems, liaising with Key Stakeholders to provide a consistent and effective service for the end users.

·To identify, investigate and develop system improvements.

·Work closely with the Network Manager to ensure servers and applications work cohesively with the network infrastructure.

·Ensure that PC or network security issues are reported and dealt with.

·Investigate and resolve hardware issues and deal with Manufacturer support.

·Perform hardware upgrades on laptops, desktops, servers and other networking equipment.

·Updating information in the network documentation.

·To provide metrics and reports on network and systems performance for stake holders at all levels within the company.

·Contribute to departmental IT projects

·To undertake any other such duties as may reasonably be required in this position.

·Full compliance with all documentation of IT procedures and processes to enable seamless holiday and illness cover.

Requirements

·Microsoft MCSA, CompTIA A+ or equivalent required.

·First class customer facing skills with specific reference to detail and timeliness.

·Proven problem solving and organizational ability.

·Previous experience in an IT role including experience.

·Have a good technical knowledge of systems software such as current versions of windows desktop and server operating systems, network and office productivity applications.

·Experience of IP based networking, VLANS, Routing, Load Balancers and Wireless networks.

·Experience of administering Microsoft Exchange, Skype for Business and SharePoint would be beneficial.

·Knowledge and experience of Virtualisation technologies. VMware would be an advantage.
