Software Deployment Manager - Glasgow - £50-60,000 base plus bonus and benefits

Our client, a Fortune 500 organisation are going through an exciting period of expansion and seek to recruit into an area of their business which currently employs 8,000 people and has over 30 million customer relationships in more than 200 countries and jurisdictions.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the IT lead, you will own the Release Management lifecycle for a complex Oracle based product, to include scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for this global implementation. You will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments, working collaboratively with our systems integration partner's and software vendor's teams of developers and testers. You will assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and the integrity of the release can be measured.

  • Forward plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations across Europe, the US and India.
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
  • Weekly Release Reporting
  • Communicate release details and schedules to program leadership as required
  • Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
  • Work with DevOps engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
  • Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
  • Manage the development of scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Gatekeeper of major changes to a complex landscape of 20+ environments of the chosen software product.

Primary Location:
  • United Kingdom-Glasgow City
  • Able to support travel if necessary

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred
  • Formal training in project management and governance practices preferred

Skills and Experience
  • 2-6 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
  • 8-10 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Ideally with experience of delivering tools automation across functions of code development and QA, config management, code splitting and merging, code promotion and test automation
  • Prefer experience of managing Oracle based products
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and provide information to a diverse stakeholder group
  • Delivering well-structured communication both orally, in writing or through delivery of presentations.
  • Negotiation skills
