Summary: Do you have 12+ months experience in an energy trading role ? We are looking for a Trading and Risk Manager to join a public-sector organisation to develop, manage, co-ordinate and review the performance an energy trading desk through interpreting, undertaking and facilitating the requirements of customers and suppliers . The Trading and Risk Manager is a pivotal role in the management of a gas and electricity portfolio worth £145m pa . The post holder will take responsibility for the management of a Trading analyst and ensure all trading activity is undertaken in accordance with process and procedures Trading Governance, Financial Regulations and Risk Strategy. The Trading and Risk Manager will suit someone who is looking for an organisation which will invest in their career development. Key responsibilities: Play pivotal role in reporting MI on wholesale energy and changes in the market Research new industry initiatives and undertake impact analysis on proposed changes Performance management and reporting on trading performance Develop, implement and manage robust processes and systems to support hedging activities Develop price risk strategies for the purchase of energy to reflect customer attitude to risk. Analysis, volume balancing, monitoring forward position and calculating (VaR) Authenticating supplier trade receipts to ensure traceability and visibility of trades Convert customer demand data into an aggregate load shape and purchase volume Identify and manage risks associated with the forecast and hedging position Provide market update reports and budgetary guidance to internal and external customers Monitor and interpret real time energy wholesale market prices and energy news feeds Responsible for energy desk communications via web, email, newsletters etc. Skills and experience required: Degree ideally in Maths, Physics, Economics or equivalent qualification Interpret results and execute trades for large energy portfolio in line with risk strategy. Able to anticipate future market patterns. Experience of analysing complex market data sets, reports, feedback and trends Experience of Influencing a range of stakeholders, customers and suppliers to achieve results. Comprehensive understanding of the retail energy markets. A detailed knowledge of fundamental and technical analysis of the energy markets. Competent in analysing and evaluating supplier contract tenders. Excellent written communications skills; report writing and liaison with stakeholders Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel Experience in calculating and validating energy charges Detailed knowledge required of Energy trading techniques within the energy market sector. A thorough understanding of flexible gas & electricity supply agreements.
