Job Title - Maintenance Engineer

Location - West Bromwich

Salary - £30,000 (plus unlimited overtime OTE £55k)

Hour of Work - Monday to Friday (3 shift rotation)

The Company

Our client is a global leader in material reprocessing. With over 30 sites across the UK, they also have numerous plants across Europe and the United States. Their facilities can process a wide range of materials including plastic, glass, metals and rubber.

The business is currently rolling out a global LEAN and CI initiative, and as such have been investing heavily in new equipment and systems. The goal is to get to 90% OEE, with the site currently running at 85%. Thanks to the work already completed, in the last 12 months the Engineering department have managed to get to 70% on Planned Maintenance, compared to Reactive Breakdown.

In order to continue this upwards trend, the business now need to further expand their Engineering Department by a further two Maintenance Engineers.

The Role

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the following:
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance Tasks.
  • Assisting with CI Project upgrade work.
  • Fault finding and rectification of electrical faults.

Due to the range of materials processed, the site has a wide range of equipment including conveyors (belt and chain), vibration tables, trommels, rotating drums, eddy current separators, grading screens, grinders, shredders, compactors and bulk bagging lines.

The Maintenance Engineer would be working predominantly of the Electrical systems, working alongside a Mechanically biased Engineer, however would be expected to be able to assist with mechanical work.


The business has agreements in place with a local College and University for putting Engineers through Engineering training courses. Out of the 22 Engineers on site, 12 are already taking advantage of the fully funded training, including two who are doing HNCs in Electrical Engineering, and another who is doing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

There are a wide range of courses to choose from and Engineers can request any course that is on the training Matrix. Upon successful completion of each training course, the Engineer would also receive a boost to their hourly rate.

Due to the extensive training available, the business is also keen to speak to Candidates who have recently left the Armed Forces who have a background in Engineering.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills or attributes:
  • Must have previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer.
  • Must have either an Electrical Engineering Qualification.
