Becoming a Business Development Manager

The successful Business Development Manager will work in our business unit, who offer leading software solutions and services to educational establishments and central educational bodies across UK. You will be responsible for selling a range of solutions into a portfolio of Schools and Local Authorities with the aim of developing strategic long term client relationships with key and senior customer stakeholders.

You should have a proven track record in a field sales management role, including the ability to present a value proposition to multi level stakeholders, driving inspiring and relevant workshops and networking events within your territory, and the ability to successfully close high ticket sales and deliver to target. What you will do:

Develop a portfolio of Local Authorities, Support Unit and school customers, building key multi-level relationships across the territory

Lead bids with a professional, creative and customer focused approach to ensure we are selected as supplier of choice

Build a credible pipeline that is 3-4x sales target

Deliver a monthly/quarterly/annual sales target;

Develop a territory plan that demonstrates a clear strategy on how the sales target will be achieved meeting minimum annual transaction targets through creative thinking

Your experience will include:
  • Minimum 3-5 years proven successful external sales experience, ideally including sales of value-added IT solutions
  • A solid understanding of Education and the changing local authority landscape
  • Proven sales territory planning skills and experience
  • Proven track record of generating leads and hitting targets set
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build strong customer and internal relationships
