Purchasing Manager: A brand new and exciting role has presented itself for a Purchasing Manager to join a global, highly specialised electro-mechanical manufacturing company based in Norfolk. As an overview of the role, please see below: The successful candidate will be required to locate vendors for material and supplies for our products and interview vendors to determine the product quality, availability and terms of sales. The Purchasing manager will be involved in using this information/data provided to them to establish and negotiate contracts and achieve the most cost-effective price for the parts. The ideal candidate will smooth relationships over when stressful circumstances arise and develop trust and rapport both within and outside the team. They will be a self- starter and have a positive, can-do approach when completing various tasks. The job holder will be approachable, energetic, well-spoken, persuasive and adaptable in their approach and will be able to function successfully as part of a team. The achievement of results through people is vital. The role will require the candidate to develop and execute a strategy for the Company's purchasing, supplier selection and product materials cost objectives. This will include budgeting, developing action plans, establishing supplier and contract management instructions, and maintaining policies and procedures in accordance with ISO9001:2015 to meet the demands of the business. The successful individual will be able to create a network of contacts that can provide advice and costing on what resources are available for the organisation. The person in this role will be expected to work with and support other departments within the organisation. Purchasing Manager Main Responsibilities: •Conducting research and identifying potential new suppliers •Visiting existing and potential new suppliers, building and maintaining good relationships •Working with R&D development of new suppliers and introduction of new product ranges •Manage and monitor supplier performance •Control process and sign-off for all external purchases in line with authorisation policy •Manage all material inventory and reorder levels •Placing purchase orders •Manage all stock and stock locations •Manage stores department and picking of job packs •Manage stock take •Developing a purchasing strategy •Develop improvement plans with key suppliers and drive quality improvement in the supply chain •Deliver measurable savings through negotiations with new and existing suppliers •Review and analyse all standard product material spend. Identify and realise material savings on standard products •Draft RFQ's packs for key material spend •Manage purchasing day to day activities •Review approval system and policy for purchasing and approvers •Review all key supplies •Introduce yourself to all key supplier •Benchmarking existing long term suppliers against new ones •Working with Sales department, improve the management of standard product components •Produce report to be presented at monthly management meetings •Some international travel may be required Purchasing Manager Specification: •Experience in a manufacturing based purchasing role •HND or Degree level educated •Engineering background •People management skills •Excellent communication and negotiation skills •Self-motivated with a passion to deliver Continuous Improvement •Proven ability to deliver cost reductions •Commercially aware •Excellent computer skills (Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint) Why Should You Apply? •Salary - £45,000-£50,000 + benefits •25 days annual holiday + bank holidays • hour working week with flexible start time •Government standard pension •Bonus up to 5% •Sickness pay •Life assurance plan If this role is not what you're looking for don't worry.
