Purchasing Manager: A brand new and exciting role has presented itself for a Purchasing Manager to join a global, highly specialised electro-mechanical manufacturing company based in Surrey. The role is commutable from Woking, Byfleet, Guildford, Weybridge and surrounding areas. As an overview of the role, please see below: The successful candidate will be required to locate vendors for material and supplies for our products and interview vendors to determine the product quality, availability and terms of sales. The Purchasing manager will be involved in using this information/data provided to them to establish and negotiate contracts and achieve the most cost-effective price for the parts. The ideal candidate will smooth relationships over when stressful circumstances arise and develop trust and rapport both within and outside the team. They will be a self- starter and have a positive, can-do approach when completing various tasks. The job holder will be approachable, energetic, well-spoken, persuasive and adaptable in their approach and will be able to function successfully as part of a team. The achievement of results through people is vital. The role will require the candidate to develop and execute a strategy for the Company's purchasing, supplier selection and product materials cost objectives. This will include budgeting, developing action plans, establishing supplier and contract management instructions, and maintaining policies and procedures in accordance with ISO9001:2015 to meet the demands of the business. The successful individual will be able to create a network of contacts that can provide advice and costing on what resources are available for the organisation. The person in this role will be expected to work with and support other departments within the organisation. T Purchasing Manager Main Responsibilities: •Management of component spend, ensuring costs are maintained within budget. •Development and management of the cost reduction programs and targets set by the ; •Mitigating and addressing purchase cost increases. •Developing key relationships with suppliers. •Drive the purchasing strategy for all major components. •Supporting the NPI process and ensuring new products meet the NPI demands, including cost, sourcing, supplier selection and QCD. •Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. •Managing the overall purchasing team's day to day activities. •Developing and reporting monthly the KPI's for the Purchasing department, with action plans to address any adverse trends. •Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. •Attending and Chairing internal meetings with various departments, including Operations, Sales, Engineering, Quality and Finance. •Ensuring all invoice queries are investigated and resolved. •Ensure Compliance with all processes and procedures in place within the Purchasing Department. •Actively engage in the S&OP process and be one of the key contributors to the meeting. •Transferring production to different and additional suppliers as appropriate to address problems and provide second sources. •Rationalise the supplier base as appropriate. •Shorten lead times of component manufacture to support the production process. •Advise on Make vs Buy policy and alternative manufacturing locations. •Liaise with Engineering and Suppliers to ensure ECN process flows efficiently. Purchasing Manager Specification: •Experience working in a technical procurement environment (aerospace, automotive, capital machinery, engineering). •Working knowledge of the relevant modules within an MRP system. •A working knowledge of manufacturing processes. •An appreciation of best practice design with regards to mechanical, electronic, electrical and moulded products would be a distinct advantage. •Experience of supplier selection and evaluation for the procurement of products and components from low cost regions including India, China, Eastern Europe. •Good negotiation skills. •Experience working with suppliers globally. •Minimum 5 years working experience in a "hands on" procurement role. •CIPS certified - desirable •Experience of managing a team - desirable Why Should You Apply? •Salary - £50,000-£55,000 + benefits •25 days annual holiday + bank holidays • hour working week with flexible start time •Government standard pension •Bonus up to 5% •Sickness pay •Life assurance plan If this role is not what you're looking for don't worry.
